I am a multimedia artist with more than two decades working around the world. I began my career as a newspaper photographer with Gannett and very early on saw the potential for digital arts and communication. After 10 years covering the New York area, on diverse subjects – early coverage of the AIDs crisis and the war in the Balkans, the local economy – I received my MFA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Integrated Electronic Arts in 1998. My master’s thesis was a website that was awarded an honorable mention in the ARS Electronica show in Vienna.
Since then I have lived and worked in Moscow, Cairo and Berlin, using my own photography and video work to produce and manage blogs, websites, and social media accounts for nonprofits, community and school organizations, authors, businesses and and array of individual clients. My challenge, as a freelancer working solo, moving countries, and a mother of two teenagers, is to stay current with the changing digital ecosystem. I returned to the US 3+ years ago and have since learned the power and practice of social media.
